Community Living Kincardine and District (CLKD) serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. These people require supports in order to participate in the life of the community. CLKD is currently in the process of raising $1.3 million for a residence in Kincardine that will provide a supportive home with 24 hour care for many of the most vulnerable. KWT has chosen to support Community Living with the proceeds of the 2013 race.

Community Living Kincardine & District has been supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in their community for the past 50 years. We assist these individuals to participate fully in the life of the community while exploring personal goals and ambitions throughout all of their life stages. We currently support over 120 infants, children, youth, adults and their families.

We are also a major employer in Kincardine with 87 employees currently on our payroll. Our day to day operational costs are funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Child and Youth Services. However, capital expenses are not covered at this time. These funds come from donors in our community and any grant money that we may receive. One of our residences at 299 Saratoga is in dire need of replacement. At this point in time we have no grant money or donations to support this build. Therefore we are now embarking on a major fundraising drive of $1.3 million.

This facility will allow individuals to live in our community without putting additional burden on our health care system. 299 Saratoga Road, Kincardine is a residence that houses 12 individuals with developmental disabilities, our most vulnerable. The individuals that live here or are eligible to live here come from both Bruce and Grey counties.

The CLKD Board had a feasibility study done which showed that we should be able to raise the funds needed if we are committed to this project. We are…we have no other alternative. We hope you will consider supporting us by way of donations or by coming out to support one or more of our fundraising activities. CLKD is a registered charitable organization. Individuals who donate $20 or more will receive tax receipts.

Thank you for any support you are able to offer.
